Join us to engage in Math Court, an interactive role play designed to engage students in the problem solving process using the terminology and structure of a real courtroom while using the mathematical practices.

Students will play the role of the defendant where they must construct a viable argument for their problem solving process and model a solution to a real world problem. In addition, students will be playing the role of the jury where they will be critiquing the reasoning of both defendants. Once both sides of the “argument” have been presented, the jury deliberates to rule in favor of ONE of the defendants based on the evidence and models presented in court. The Judge will read the final verdict. Through Math Court, our students solve problems in a real-world situation and practice critical math practice standards.
