Too often games are used as a "time filler" in class, where students go to a computer station to practice their math. Games are so much better when used as part of instruction, yet it is hard to know - as teachers - how to use games, what to do when students are playing and how to learn about our students from their gameplay.

Based on their work with the Math Snacks games, educators will share specific strategies to use when teaching with games, including crafting guided discussion, engaging students in teaching each other, and assessing students' understanding of the content through play. Workshop participants will play games as part of the workshop, and practice applying specific teaching methods with other participants.
